Slate Pool Surrounds for Pretoria homes and businesses
Slate pool surrounds are popular in Pretoria, where a pool deck is often the centre of summer life. Local installers in Gauteng can advise on slate colours that suit your climate, falls for rain, and sealers that cope with sun, chlorine and garden dust.

Slate, stone and weather in Pretoria
Pretoria has older character homes in suburbs like Brooklyn and Waterkloof, where slate roofs, stone walls and Herbert Baker-era detail still show up. Newer eastern suburbs and estates use slate on patios, courtyards, pool decks and feature walls. Jacaranda fall stains pale stone, summer hail marks roofs and the dry winter sun fades sealers, so maintenance matters. Tile shops, stone yards and paving suppliers serve the city, with delivery to Centurion and farms to the north. Ask suppliers about matching existing slate on older roofs before you order.
Typical slate pool surrounds requests in the area come from:
- Suburban homes: a slate deck around the family pool with a braai area and shaded loungers close by
- Older and heritage homes: slate coping and paving that suits a restored garden and an older home with character
- Security and golf estates: matching slate paving from the entertainment patio to the pool edge in a modern home
- Townhouses and complexes: a small slate plunge pool deck on a courtyard, subject to body corporate approval
- New builds and developments: pool coping and deck slate planned with the builder so falls and levels are right first time
- Restaurants, hotels and offices: non-slip slate decking for hotel, lodge or restaurant pools used by guests every day
Why get a quote in Pretoria first?
No two slate projects in Pretoria are the same. A quote based on your details shows the real cost of labour, adhesive, grout, sealing, travel and clean-up, so you can budget properly and avoid surprises.
What to include in your request
- State the deck area in m² and the coping length in metres.
- Say if the pool is new, existing or being renovated.
- Choose your slate colour and a non-slip cleft finish.
- Mention steps, curves, pillars or a pump enclosure to be covered.
- Say whether old paving must be lifted and where the rubble can go.
The more detail you give, the more accurate your quote will be.
